Using real-life examples, we will demonstrate material utilization improvement opportunities of automotive sheet metal components by optimizing:
- Component design
- Stamping process
- Blanking process
Minimizing Sheet Metal Yield Losses in the Automotive Industry
Allwood and Cullin (2012) approximate that 12% of steel and 30% of aluminum produced globally is used in the automotive industry, one-third of which is in the form of sheet metal components. Furthermore, Horton and Allwod (2017) estimated that industry average yield losses stand at around 44% resulting in significant environmental and financial losses. Minimizing yield losses by just 14% can result in a potential global savings opportunity of approximately 8 billion euros and 25 million tons of CO2.
In this webinar, we will demonstrate realistic opportunities and ideas to realize financial and environmental benefits by improving material utilization using some real-life automotive examples.
Who should join:
Engineers and managers that are responsible for the part design and the process design of sheet metal components with a focus on material utilization improvements.
