  • Blanking process

Minimizing Sheet Metal Yield Losses in the Automotive Industry

Allwood and Cullin (2012) approximate that 12% of steel and 30% of aluminum produced globally is used in the automotive industry, one-third of which is in the form of sheet metal components. Furthermore, Horton and Allwod (2017) estimated that industry average yield losses stand at around 44% resulting in significant environmental and financial losses. Minimizing yield losses by just 14% can result in a potential global savings opportunity of approximately 8 billion euros and 25 million tons of CO2.

See how we demonstrate realistic opportunities and ideas to realize financial and environmental benefits by improving material utilization using some real-life automotive examples.
