Lubrication values for simulation

1

We are pleased that the SME (Society of Manufacturing Engineers) Stamping and Dies Technical Group and Metal Forming Simulation Technical Group will host a webinar on May 11th where AutoForm-ProcessEngineering along with Triboform will be discussed.

Knowing which friction value is the best representation of the lubrication performance in a stamping simulation has always presented challenges for engineers and analysts. Lubes perform differently under high and low pressures, fast or slow ram speeds, when applied to differently coated sheets, and treated tool substrates. While AutoForm allows users to enter friction coefficients to which we can apply pressure and velocity dependent profiles, there has been little information available to industry as to what those profiles should be.

Assuming that friction is constant throughout the forming process can lead to under-prediction of forming severity. Source: Triboform.com

Triboform B.V. will join the SME meeting in May to share with us there ground breaking case studies where they were able to demonstrate improved predictability during simulation of potential production conditions for stamped sheet metal parts.
